Great times

For me Once Upon A Time is one of the best tracks ever played live or recorded and captured the SM sound at that time. It has everything Jim’s voice, Charlie’s great guitar riff and Mick’s cross over between synth & piano, Mel’s drum sound which was a massive part of the SM sound backed by great Robin Clarke vocals brilliant all round

Was at the MK bowel the week before this one. Absolutely brilliant and makes you wonder if you could mix the new sound technology with the band back then, I reckon would be another world if not already

Worst thing they ever did was fire Derek F, he was crucial to their classic sound. They asked him to come back for Steet Fighting Years but he declined.

I was a freshman at Marist College, in Poughkeepsie. This was my second concert ever. I first saw Missing Persons in Albany, and then Simple Minds. I believe Shriekback opened for them. Their Oil and Gold album is still incredible. Marist also exposed me to Kate Bush, and I have not been the same since. Thank God for the second British Invasion.

I still lived at "home" when I first saw this on TOTPs in September 1982, I was just 20, 42 years ago, and it is still relevant.

it was my first ever concert. 16 years old. My brother and me were sitting at the right balcony with perfect view to the stage. Jim waved to us at the end and Mel threw his drumsticks into our direction, but was not fast enough to grab them. And then there was a girl who was drunk or drugged trying to pull away Michael Macneil from the keyboards. I think this explains his smile on the thumbnail. Great memories…
